I took the Ancestry DNA test because everyone always asked me what I was mixed and I always said black and white. Growing up I always got three different responses from people about my race:1. Latino (70%) , 2. Black and White (29%), 3. Hawaiian(1%). Watch my Youtube Video to see what my results were and my thoughts:

So now that you have watched the video let's talk about my background and show some pictures of my family and the Ancestry DNA pictures.

My Paternal Grandparents

These are my father's parents who are both African American and from Florida. They died before I was born so I never got to meet them and ask them any questions about our family.

Maternal Grandparents

These are my mother's parents who are both from West Virginia. My grandfather is African American and my grandmother is white which makes my mother mixed. My grandfather died a few days before my sixteenth birthday and I never meet anyone from his family so I don't know where is family came from. I know that picture is a little blurry so here are some more.

My Parents

My mother was born and raised in Washington, DC and is mixed with black and white. My father was born and raised in Florida and moved to DC when he joined the Marines. In 1993 the best gift of all came...

Me

I was born in Bethesda, Maryland and raised in Washington, DC. When people ask me what my race is I tell them black. And when they ask why I am light skin I tell them my father is black and my mother is mixed. I know I am also mixed but I feel like my primary color is black so that's just what I tell people.

Ancestry Results

After looking at my results the only part I was surprised by was the Asia part because I don't know which parent that came from. I will continue to do more research to find out how far back it goes.

Where each part comes from

Africa- Both Parents

Native American- Mother and maternal Grandfather

Asia- I don't know

Europe- My father and maternal grandmother
